ESC - Elements Sustainable Cabinetry

ESC_Logo_600_for_websiteWhy ESC?

Elements of Green is a local Kansas City company dedicated to providing earth-friendly products including cabinetry made to AWI premium grade construction standards, this means the cabinetry is designed to last 50-60 years.  We provide this fabulous product at a cost not much greater than off-the-shelf cabinets at big box stores.

Issue:

Wheat-natural-finish-CUIf you are a DIY'er, sustainable remodeler, home builder, or commercial builder of apartments, condominiums, or churches, your cabinetry options can include non-green cabinets from the box-stores that are produced with formaldehyde based glues, have been stapled together, then finished with low priced lacquers full of VOC's...essentially built with no regard for the environment or quality. Alternately, you may buy cabinets that were built over seas, then shipped from who-knows-where, then spending the next few weeks assembling boxes. Finally, you can select from locally built custom cabinets specifying the materials and finishes; this of course comes at a premium price.

Solution:

Elements of Green has the solution: We have standardized the box construction using Skyblend®, FSC certified, 100% recycled material, finished with Thermally Fused Melamine. All fronts are made from your choice of rapidly renewable BioFiber® Wheatboard or FSC certified Smith & Fong Plyboo® bamboo. The drawers are constructed of Blum® metabox glides with stay-close Colorsfeatures offering a life-time warranty, while cabinet doors feature Blum® soft-closing hinges also with a lifetime warranty, both come as standard. Options include soft-close drawer glides, single or double trash roll-outs and white wire cookie sheet dividers to begin the discussion with you around your new custom kitchen or bath cabinetry.  This AWI premium style box construction utilizes traditional mortise and tenon joinery, then are glued and screwed, producing a cabinet that is designed to last 50-60 years.

All materials used in the construction of this cabinetry are recycled or rapidly renewable. The Wheatboard is made from wheat stalks collected after harvest, while Smith & Fong Plyboo® bamboo is rapidly renewable FSC certified bamboo. All materials are certified to contain no added urea formaldehyde or VOC's.

Our kitchen and bathroom cabinetry is produced with a focus on minimizing environmental impact. The use of high-tech computer software reduces production waste. Locally crafting cabinets and responsible materials purchasing practices reduce emissions associated with transportation, while catalyzed 0-VOC finish will improve the air quality of your home. We utilize bi-monthly production of all ordered cabinets  and combined same-area delivery reduces start-stop transportation and fuel consumption, further promoting energy conservation and reducing cost.
