Just the Facts

The Technology used to produce our Light Weight Roof Tiles is not new. The innovative nature comes from two proven technologies. The manufacture of concrete tile by methods of extrusion has been proven for over a century. The use and application E. P. S. foam (Expanded Polystyrene) to all industries has been used and tested for over 50 years. The manufacturer uses these successfuI production techniques to improve the beauty, durability, and installation.

Many people that do not understand how a tile roof performs the function of waterproofing the roof structure believe the side lap and head lap should be waterproof. This is not how it actually works. Wind blown rains and fine snows will penetrate the joints on all roof tiles. The function of the tile is to protect the feIt underlayments from weathering and heat.

In case of clay and concrete tiles the tile itself has a life span in excess of a century. However, the felt underlayments wear out in approximately 50 years. The enemy of asphalt impregnated felt is heat. The heat from the sun burns the hydro-carbons out of the felt, thus removing the waterproofing element from its molecular structure. The Light Weight Roofing Tile we sell is a breakthrough in protecting the waterproofing felts from heat. The E.P.S. foam base keeps the felt cool, thus prolonging its life indefinitely. This is just one of the many major advantages thisproduct has over all previous roof tile designs.

Beauty

Photographs cannot transmit the impact of the stunning visual enhancements this roof tile will provide for your viewing, that quiet beauty of tile, slate, or the rugged rusticity of wood. These roofing materials have made a statement about our good taste for centuries. Our Light Weight Roofing Tile productcarries on that sensible tradition without diminishment or compromise.

Durability

The surface of this tile exposed to the elements of weather is pure concrete composed of natural
sand., cement, and coloring. No gimmicks or tricks with unproved aggregates in the concrete. No Color
coating to only temporarily enhance the surface.

50 Year Warranty

The reason that the tile is so light weight is because most of the volume of the tile is the E. P. S. foam. The foam is so indestructible that we are having to limit its use in many consumer items because of the problems it imposes to our landfills. It is permanently protected from the sun by the concrete covering. Concrete roof tile has been in use for about 130 years. The manufacturers in England are commonly warranting it for 100 years. This product has proven durability.

Economy

The Elements which make up this roof system are: underlayment, flashing and sealants, and roof tile. Many of the materials necessary for an ordinary concrete tile roof are eliminated. Their attendant requirements for installation are also eliminated. Shipping weight is about l/3 of the standard roof tile or slate, therefore minimizing cost of transportation. When considering the economy of any roofing product an important consideration is how long it will last without maintenance or replacement (life cycle cost). Properly installed, this product can be expected to be trouble free for more than 50 years.

Resistant to Hazards

Special tools or equipment, other than masonry blades to cut the tile are not necessary. Since the design of this tile eliminates the void normally found below any roofing, it is harder to have water blow or run underneath the tile. Therefore, installers need not be as concerned about "turning back" water that is going to run below the roofing. Carrying roofing which weighs 3.5 Ibs. per foot around the roof is considerably easier than those which weigh 11 to 15 lbs. per foot.

Energy Efficient

The E. P. S. foam base has been an insulative R factor of 4.5. This lowers attic temperatures in the summer by as much as 40 degrees. The concrete surface and foam base are barriers to radiant heat that penetrate ceilings and attic insulation. This reduces energy cost and protects underlayments from extreme temperature changes.
